Our Edmonton-based client is on the hunt for a Senior Structural Engineer with a flair for structural restoration to join their dynamic team.

Structural Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Participate in client meetings to share project information and updates.
  • Conduct investigations and condition assessments of existing structures, including buildings and parking structures, to determine the extent and causes of deterioration.
  • Examine deteriorating materials such as reinforced concrete, structural steel, waterproofing, and expansion joints.
  • Assist in the training and review of fieldwork conducted by junior team members.
  • Create detailed reports on observations, assessments, and findings, including Condition Assessment Reports.
  • Develop written recommendations for necessary repairs and work with clients to prioritize these repairs.
  • Prepare structural designs and restoration detail drawings, specifications, and tender documents.
  • Produce documentation for contract administration, including bid review letters, change notices, change orders, and invoice review letters. Coordinate contracts between the owner and contractor, and oversee contract administration during construction, including field reviews and progress meetings.
  • Guide junior team members in technical and contract administration aspects.
  • Track internal project costs and review monthly invoices.
The successful candidate has:
  • Licensed in Alberta or Toronto (or willing to become licensed) with 5+ years’ experience in structural projects.
  • Comprehensive understanding of construction materials and products, particularly in concrete repair, restoration, corrosion protection, traffic toppings, expansion joints, and waterproofing systems.
  • Ability to lead all sizes of projects from investigation through to design and contract administration with minimal supervision.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships and support business development initiatives.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills, with strong written communication and computer skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within existing facilities and adapt to various project requirements
  • Salary range is $120,000 to $135,000.
  • Profit share plan with a target of 20%
  • 37.5-hour work week with flexible working hours.
  • Minimum of 4 days a week in the office to foster strong internal relationships.
  • Commitment to staff development through mentoring and training.
  • Employer-paid medical, dental, and vision insurance premiums for employees and dependents.
  • RRSP matching up to 5% and participation in a discretionary profit-sharing plan.
