Job Description
Our client is an established Land Survey consultant with strong client relationships. They are excited to add a true leader to their team who will apply their Geomatics expertise to lead field and office teams on land surveying projects, ensuring quality and successful outcomes for clients. They conduct final checks and approve survey plans, communicate directly with clients, mentor staff to support continuous learning, and develop a network of contacts to drive business growth.
Senior Land Surveyor responsibilities:
- Serve as the main point of contact for clients to provide updates on project progress.
- Guide field and office teams on project requirements, ensuring the creation of project-specific plans and documents.
- Develop work plans that clearly outline objectives and provide detailed steps for project teams to follow.
- Review deeds, plans, and other documents, comparing them with field survey data to establish property boundaries and ownership.
- Investigate historical documents to resolve any title discrepancies.
- Perform thorough and accurate final checks of survey plans, approving and signing off on those that meet client standards.
- Adhere to budget constraints.
- Foster a sense of urgency both internally and externally to ensure timely resolution of issues.
- Mentor field crews on equipment use, data processing software, and internal technical standards.
- Support knowledge transfer and provide guidance to Draftspersons, CAD technicians, and field staff.
- Prioritize the completion of agreed-upon commitments
- Assist with various office tasks as needed to support the company
The successful candidate has:
- Degree or diploma in Geomatics or equivalent
- Member of the Association for Ontario Land Surveyors (AOLS) in good standing
- Accredited Ontario Land Surveyors License (OLS)(IFRS)
- Experience in various field and technical roles obtained throughout Articling process
- Experience with AutoCAD, MicroSurvey and/or Coordinate Geometry Software
- Experience with conducting detailed and accurate plan checks.
- At least 5-10 years of experience in a similar role (required)
- Expertise in development practices, regulations, and laws
- Proven ability to plan, direct, and mentor project teams
- Professional, versatile, and collaborative in knowledge sharing
- Skilled in conflict resolution and maintaining a positive work environment
- Ability to gather and research project information
- Committed to confidentiality and handling sensitive information
- Capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, including high-volume invoicing
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Skilled in tact, diplomacy, listening, and persuasion
