Operating within a fully remote environment, the organization is experiencing significant growth and is expanding its capacity to support increasingly complex programs across Canada and internationally.

This is a high-impact role for an experienced conference professional who can independently lead the planning and execution of major conferences from conception through post-event evaluation. The successful candidate will bring strong operational leadership, financial acumen, stakeholder management expertise, and the ability to mentor junior team members while managing multiple large-scale projects simultaneously.

Senior Conference Manager Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary client contact and senior operational lead for assigned conferences

  • Develop and manage conference budgets, financial forecasting, reconciliations, and project profitability

  • Lead conference organizing committees, scientific/program committees, and stakeholder groups

  • Manage abstract submission processes, speaker management, scientific programs, and presentation workflows

  • Oversee venue sourcing, hotel negotiations, room block management, supplier contracting, and citywide logistics

  • Direct integrated project teams across registration, housing, sponsorship, exhibits, marketing, communications, and onsite operations

  • Develop project plans, production schedules, risk management strategies, and operational timelines

  • Lead onsite conference delivery, including team leadership, supplier coordination, venue management, and issue resolution

  • Prepare executive-level reports, KPI summaries, project updates, and post-event evaluations

  • Mentor and support junior conference management professionals

  • Contribute to business growth initiatives and support business development opportunities

The Successful Candidate Has:

  • 5+ years of progressive conference management experience within a Professional Congress Organizer (PCO), conference management, or similar environment

  • Proven experience managing the full lifecycle of large-scale conferences with attendance of 2,000+ delegates; experience with events exceeding 3,000 attendees is strongly preferred

  • Strong understanding of conference operations including abstracts, scientific programs, speaker management, registration, housing, sponsorships, exhibits, and logistics

  • Demonstrated experience managing conference budgets, forecasting, financial reporting, and profitability

  • Strong understanding of marketing, promotion, and sponsorships

  • Experience leading committees, stakeholders, clients, vendors, and cross-functional project teams

  • Strong venue sourcing, hotel negotiation, and citywide conference management experience

  • Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, competing priorities, and tight deadlines

  • Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining a high level of accountability and attention to detail

  • Strong leadership, communication, relationship-building, and problem-solving skills

  • Experience with conference and project management platforms such as EventsAir, Wrike, or similar systems

  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally approximately 30% to 40% of the year

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English

  • Bilingualism in English and French is considered a strong asset

  • Valid passport and ability to travel internationally without restrictions

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The discussed salary range is $75,000 - $80,000, depending on experience

  • Candidates with additional experience and higher compensation expectations may also be considered

  • Comprehensive health and wellness benefits package

  • Fully remote work environment

  • Internet allowance and home office support

  • Flexible work arrangements

  • Paid vacation starting at two weeks, with flexibility for senior candidates

  • Nine paid statutory holidays plus office closure between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day

  • Paid time in lieu, where applicable

  • Professional development opportunities

  • Company-provided IT equipment

  • Opportunity to lead high-profile national and international conferences

  • Collaborative and supportive team environment with significant autonomy and ownership

  • Long-term career growth opportunities within a growing organization
