Job Description


Great opportunity for an up and coming CPA  with a growing group of Manitoba companies. Reporting to the Controller, you will assist with the overall management of financial operations for a number of companies including financial statements, internal controls and regulatory/tax compliance.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Support Controller in managing full cycle accounting for all operating, holding and construction companies
  • Complete month-end and year-end accounting procedures including posting of standard journal entries, reconciling balance sheet accounts and variance analysis
  • Prepare, review and analyze monthly reports for accuracy, correct categorization and significant variances
  • Coordinate the regulatory/tax compliance function including GST on buildings, tax reporting, research and year-end tax returns
  • Perform monthly intercompany revenue and expense allocations
  • Maintain property tax, property insurance and capital asset schedules
  • Monitor unpaid and unreconciled transactions to ensure accuracy of financial statements
  • Recognize and identify departmental inefficiencies and significant variances in reporting and provide recommendations to the Controller
  • Provide advice and guidance on all accounting matters including financial systems, record keeping, analysis and reporting
  • Work with Controller and Operations to define, measure, analyze, improve and control current processes which impact customer quality and influence internal operating efficiency
  • Support Controller with budgeting and forecasting
  • Special projects for the business going through growth stage

What the successful candidate will bring:
  • A degree in finance with CPA designation
  • Knowledge of tax and regulatory requirements
  • Related accounting and finance experience in property management and construction is desirable
  • Proven experience in all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management
  • High level communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are vital to the role
  • Advances knowledge of MS Office, Excel and Quickbooks
  • Management and supervisory experience and ability to work effectively across an organization
  • Experience with Entrata would be an asset
