Due to growth and upcoming retirements, our client is seeking a Safety Coordinator/Lab Technician to join their squad in Langley, BC. Offering above market total compensation, they are a reputable player in the local manufacturing sector and have a small, loyal and tight-knit team.

The Safety Coordinator/Lab Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring workplace safety, quality, and environmental compliance, while also contributing to research and development laboratory work.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee monthly Joint Health and Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings, co-chair, and document proceedings.

  • Conduct monthly workplace inspections and monitor safety training status.

  • Provide training to workers, including preparation of training materials.

  • Lead incident investigations and monitor workplace health and safety practices.

  • Perform lab work, including melt flow testing, tensile strength testing, HPLC preparation, and testing.

  • Extrude lab quality and research and development samples.

  • Review and revise procedure manuals to align with best safe practices.

  • Support the global sustainability team and local sustainability objectives.

  • Enter data for quality test results and sustainability reporting.

  • Identify and address risks in the workplace.

  • Periodically review regulations for changes.

The successful candidate has: 

  • Progressive experience in manufacturing or commercial labs.

  • Post-secondary education in a related field preferred.

  • Detail-oriented and self-motivated.

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be able to commute to the office.

Compensation and benefits:

  • The proposed salary range is $70,000 + Bonus, commensurate with experience.
