This role offers an exciting opportunity to lead cutting-edge research and technology development in organic and physical chemistry.

Collaborating closely with our R&D head, you'll drive projects from inception to fruition, delivering impactful solutions with hands-on innovation and minimal supervision.

Research Scientist - Chemical Processes Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate within a multidisciplinary research team to conceptualize and execute R&D initiatives, including scale-up to pilot plant.
  • Lead experimental design and execution using the Design of Experiments (DOE) approach.
  • Collaborate with process development and scale-up teams to transition technologies from lab to pilot plant.
  • Develop and validate analytical methods following ASTM and ISO standards.
  • Manage instrument maintenance and troubleshooting to ensure reliable data collection.
  • Prepare technical reports and effectively communicate findings to stakeholders.
  • Perform detailed chemical analyses using specialized equipment like IR, NMR, GC, and HPLC.
  • Conduct literature reviews, formulate hypotheses, and design experiments using a DOE approach.
  • Perform experimental procedures, analyze data, and interpret outcomes.
  • Summarize laboratory findings and collaborate with technical teams for discussion.
  • Identify opportunities for enhancing current products and processes.
  • Participate in scaling technologies to larger lab and pilot scales.
  • Analyze chemical compounds using volumetric, gravimetric, thermogravimetric, spectroscopic, and chromatographic methods.
  • Develop and validate in-house analytical/testing methods following ASTM and/or ISO standards.
  • Prepare technical and non-technical reports.
The successful candidate has: 
  • Minimum 3 years of research experience in Chemistry/Applied Chemistry or related fields.
  • Post-doctoral or industry experience in chemical transformation/valorization of renewable feedstocks preferred.
  • Experience in catalyst development, testing, and chemical transformation, with a focus on heavy oil upgrading as advantageous.
  • Skilled in developing and validating analytical methods per ASTM and ISO standards.
  • Proficiency in analyzing organic compounds using IR, NMR, GC, and HPLC methods.
  • Experienced in operating and maintaining analytical instruments such as Gas Chromatographs, Liquid Chromatographs, IR, DSC, and TGA.
  • Familiarity with ASTM and/or ISO methods, and adept in analytical method development and validation.
  • Strong expertise in experimental design, Design of Experiments (DOE), and method validation.
  • Excellent prioritization, communication, and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, chromatography & data analysis software, chemical drawing tools, statistical analysis software, and online chemical databases.
