Job Description


Our client, an industry leading manufacturer with global operations is seeking a seasoned Plant Controller for their Michigan facility. Reporting to the the Chief Financial Officer and Plant Manager, the Plant Controller will lead the finance team in delivering timely financial reports to various company stakeholders.  

Key responsibilities:
  • Lead, coach and mentor the Finance & IT teams.
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements and related schedules in a timely manner.
  • Preparation of the year-end financial statements and coordination of the annual external audit engagement.
  • Working with senior operations staff to drive improvement in the plant.
  • Analyze financial information for the plant and present/discuss with senior leadership.
  • Ensure the financial and plant IT systems are effective and timely.
  • Effectively communicate with all stakeholders including employees, executive, customers and suppliers.
  • Motivate management to meet and exceed financial objectives.
  • Ensure sufficient internal controls in place to safeguard the organization.

The successful candidate has:
  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Business.
  • A CPA or CMA designation.
  • 5+ years of finance leadership within a large manufacturing facility.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach and mentor teams.
  • Strong manufacturing accounting experience including cost accounting.
  • Keen understanding and interest in the operations side of business.
  • High level financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting skills.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP.
  • Ability manage tight time-lines and multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build/maintain strong relationships across an organization.
  • Strong computer and ERP systems experience.
  • Ability to travel.
  • The ability to motivate others to achieve goals and objectives in time-sensitive environment.
