Job Description
Our client is entering a growth phase across Canada and looking for a seasoned payroll person who can come in and join their close-knit team. The Payroll Coordinator will be responsible for performing full payroll activities and will be based out of Toronto.
Payroll Coordinator responsibilities:
- Full-cycle biweekly payroll for salary and hourly employees
- Review and confirm payroll information is accurate
- Process payroll cycles in accordance with legislative standards
- Process monthly accrual and reconciliations of bank statements
- Calculate termination payments and manual payroll adjustments, as well as support in remittances for source deductions, garnishees, WSIB, EHT etc.
- Generate records of employment for terminating employees
- Manage documents and reports of payroll transactions
- Ensure employee records are correct and up to date.
- Support HR activities
- Support accounting team with ad hoc tasks.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- Payroll Compliance Designation is preferred
- 3+ years’ experience with full cycle payroll
- Payroll Compliance Designation is preferred
- UKG experience is an asset
- General knowledge of Canadian employment law, payroll legislation and accounting principles.
- Strong proficiency in Excel
- Proficiency with relevant accounting software including QuickBooks
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and time management skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and extreme discretion
- Salary range between $50,000-$70,000 depending on experience
