Job Description

Our Surrey client is looking for a Head of Operations with direct 3PL experience to help scale the business as they transition from a founder-led organization to a more structured, scalable operation. You will be responsible for the end-to-end performance, ensuring execution, accountability, and scalability across the business.

Direct experience in North American ground freight, transportation, or logistics operations will be key to success in this role.

Head of Operations Job Description:
  • Oversee transportation operations, with a strong focus on North American ground freight, which represents the largest part of the business
  • Oversee international freight forwarding, including air, ocean, import, and export activity
  • Oversee pricing, ensuring quotes, margins, and customer solutions are commercially sound
  • Lead the customer service and operations teams, ensuring urgent customer needs are handled quickly and professionally
  • Manage carrier and vendor relationships, including day-to-day performance, service levels, and issue resolution
  • Cross-functional partnership with warehouse leadership and finance, ensuring operations, margin, service, and growth plans are aligned.
  • Ensure customer commitments are met with urgency, professionalism, and clear communication
  • Create alignment and accountability across operations, customer service, pricing, and carrier/vendor teams
  • Drive team performance through strong leadership, coaching, and follow-through
  • Protect and improve margins through better pricing discipline, operational decisions, and service execution
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems, automation, and scalability as the business grows
The successful candidate has: 
  • Brings 5+ years direct 3PL experience in a leadership capacity
  • Strong exposure to North American ground freight
  • Takes full ownership of day-to-day operations
  • Strengthens customer relationships, service delivery, and operational follow-through
  • Improve operational efficiency, margins, KPIs, and overall business performance
  • Build, coaches, and develops a high-performing leadership team
  • Identifies and implements processes, technology, and automation improvements to support growth
Compensation and benefits:
  • The discussed salary range is $140, 000 to $155,000 depending on experience
