Job Description
Our client a cutting-edge medical technology company is looking to find a Mechatronics Engineer for their growing team. They are currently developing a pipeline of products to compliment and round out their flagship suite of technology. The ideal candidate will be responsible for participating in the development and testing of several software, hardware and robotic products that will be used in minimally invasive surgery (MIS). The selected candidate will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of products that range from augmented reality, robotics, biocompatible materials, and software development.
Mechatronics Engineer responsibilities:
- Assisting in development of new modules
- Code review
- Development of a robotic arm and lead the automated testing platform for the arms software
- Prototyping (hardware & software) of product safety features
- Prototyping retention materials biocompatible for deployment inside a patient during surgery
- Proactively solve challenges and meet timelines
- Identify risks and opportunities
- 4+ years in an Engineering role
- Masters or bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Software/Mechanical/Mechatronics/Computer Engineering or Computer science equivalent
- 3+ years in object-oriented programming C++
- Experience with Robot Operating Systems- ROS
- Experience with proximity sensors, odometry sensors, motors etc.
- Experience with microcontrollers/microprocessors, automated software testing
- Experience with CAD and proof-of-concept prototyping
- Experience with biocompatible materials and materials engineering
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Prior experience working with a robotic arm and asset
- Experience with hard real-time systems, multi-threading/multi-processing and inter process communication (IPC)
- Knowledge of biocompatible materials
- Knowledge of machine learning and tools for it, e.g., Python and scikit-learn, TensorFlow, numpy, matplotlib, etc.
- Experience with Qt, OpenCV, VTK
- An understanding of some foundational topics in robotics (ex. kinematics, control systems, motion planning, motor control, computer vision, etc.). Practical experience in any of these areas is an asset.
- Exceptional communication written and oral
- Presentation skills an asset
- The discussed salary range is $80,000 - $110,000 depending on experience
- Candidates with additional experience and higher compensation expectations may also be considered
