Mechanical Superintendent - Plumbing, Hydronics & Boilers
Job Description
Our client is a well-established mechanical contractor specializing in commercial and multifamily construction projects. They are seeking an experienced Mechanical Superintendent to provide managerial leadership and oversight across plumbing, hydronics, and boiler systems. This is a management-focused position responsible for overseeing mechanical construction operations, ensuring quality and safety standards are maintained, and coordinating teams to support successful project delivery.
Responsibilities
- Provide overall managerial leadership and direction for mechanical construction operations across multiple projects and sites.
- Lead and manage site teams, subcontractors, trades, and project stakeholders to ensure effective project execution.
- Oversee plumbing, hydronic, and boiler construction activities from planning through completion.
- Maintain accountability for quality, safety, productivity, scheduling, and compliance across assigned projects.
- Review and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and project documentation to ensure work is executed to required standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections and ensure quality issues, deficiencies, and coordination challenges are identified and resolved.
- Monitor project progress, manpower, materials, productivity, and construction schedules.
- Coordinate closely with Project Managers, General Contractors, consultants, trades, and suppliers.
- Identify project risks and field issues and provide effective solutions to maintain project progress.
- Ensure all mechanical work complies with applicable codes, project specifications, company standards, and health and safety requirements.
- Provide direction, accountability, and performance expectations to site personnel and subcontractors.
- Maintain clear communication between field operations, project management, and senior leadership.
- Several years of progressive experience in mechanical construction, ideally within commercial or multifamily construction environments.
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Superintendent, Area Superintendent, Mechanical Manager, General Superintendent, or similar managerial/field leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of commercial plumbing, hydronics, boilers, pumps, piping, and related mechanical systems.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and lead construction teams, subcontractors, and multiple project stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of construction quality, safety, specifications, drawings, and project requirements.
- Proven ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, specifications, and construction documentation.
- Strong organizational, communication, coordination, and decision-making skills.
- Experience overseeing multiple projects or sites is considered an asset.
- Ability to work approximately 70% on site and 30% in the office.
- Strong ability to identify issues proactively and make sound decisions to support project delivery.
- The discussed salary range is $97,000 – $110,000, depending on experience.
