About Cawston, BC

KGI is located in Cawston, BC (https://similkameenvalley.com/places-to-go/communities/cawston/) on Highway 3 (the Crowsnest Highway).  Nearby communities are Keremeos (8 km to the West), Osoyoos (36 km to the East), and Penticton (50 km to the North).

Cawston, BC is a busy agricultural center with two fruit packing plants, the newest being built strictly for organic produce - a fast-growing segment of the area's agricultural economy.  The rural nature of this community has also made it a popular home to horse ranches, hobby farms, and nature enthusiasts. There are many hiking trails in the area covering almost every terrain possible, from cactus and sagebrush desert to sub-alpine meadows.  Skiing and other winter activities can be enjoyed nearby as can 18 hole golf course at Twin Lakes, boating and swimming throughout the Okanagan and fishing in the Similkameen & Ashnola rivers as well as on the many lakes in the area.
 
Position Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Products, the Technical Sales Design Lead will own the technical heartbeat of the sales process. You’ll turn customer ideas into fast, clear, build-ready documentation that speeds up decisions and ensures nothing is lost between promise and delivery.

You’ll work with passionate engineers, manufacturers, and industry professionals who take pride in doing things right. They solve hard problems that move critical equipment—and your work will directly impact project velocity, customer confidence, and our industry-leading reputation.

Responsibilities:
  • Create 3D models and drawings that drive fast approvals
  • Act as the Technical Point of Contact for Customers and Sales Reps
  • Deliver production-ready packages for new designs
  • Collaborate across sales, engineering, and manufacturing
  • Standardize templates and workflows to scale quoting speed
  • Create clean, straightforward installation and support documents
  • Cross-functional collaboration with sales, operations, and engineering
  • Quoting and estimating
The successful candidate has:
  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology (PEng an asset)
  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing-based industries, specifically transportation
  • Experience with Mechanical Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and 3D CAD design (SolidWorks or similar)
  • Experience with technical drawing & drafting standards
  • Leveraged understanding of Lean and Six Sigma
  • Exposure to ERP/PLM tools (e.g., BOMs, dashboards, quoting systems)
  • Standardization mindset
  • Proficient use with Microsoft Suite: Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerBI
Compensation and benefits:
  • Competitive base salary - $80,000 – $120,000 (Candidates with greater experience will also be considered)
  • Flexible working arrangements - Hybrid – 3 days in office, 2 from home
