The Mechanical Engineer will oversee all mechanical related scopes of commercial construction, including commissioning and warranty work.  They will also provide expertise on design-build projects, reviewing design for building systems including HVAC, hydronics, and plumbing systems.

The Mechanical Engineer will be an integral part of the organization's growth, with potential to evolve into a leadership role!

Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities:
  • Provide basic mechanical building system designs for new projects.
  • Review drawings and specifications for all mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Plan and develop commissioning program.
  • Manage a smooth commissioning of projects by coordinating between sub-contractors, suppliers, manufacturers and operations personnel.
  • Create and implement commissioning plans in accordance with project guidelines.
  • Prepare and maintain commissioning records of site observations, testing processes, SOP's and checklists to present to project stakeholders
  • Provide first hand support on process troubleshooting and process improvement while maintaining quality and product standards
  • Problem-solve design and commissioning issues
  • Resolve conflicts and disputes with engineers, consultants, and subcontractors
  • Act as Liasion between project team, owners, architects/engineers, and sub-contractors
  • Transition the relationship with the owners as the new point of contact for the project team for project commissioning
  • Recommend improvements and offer advice about operational procedures
  • Schedule training and maintenance with operations staff
  • Ensure equipment meets performance specificactions
  • Attain customer satisfaction through adhering to owner guidelines with entire project team. 
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years' experience in commercial construction with knowledge of commissioning and building systems design 
  • Mechanical Engineering Degree
  • P.Eng. designation, or working towards obtaining
  • An understanding of all aspects of mechanical construction including codes and regulations
  • Read, understand, and interpret drawings/plans and check work according to specifications.
  • Solid understanding of different construction methods
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and work independently.
  • Ability to work in a team environment with the project teams and commissioning and warranty staff
  • Able to prioritize work and project schedules.
  • Demonstrate the ability to tightly manage details
  • Ability to coach, mentor and train team members.
  • Develop relationships, and communicate effectively and respectfully with engineers, project team members, and sub-trades.
  • Proficient in problem solving.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD
  • Ability to travel, primarily on day trips and the odd overnight to northern communities
