Job Description
Finance Manager Responsibilities:
- Develop and manage annual budgets and financial forecasts.
- Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making and strategic planning.
- Monitor financial performance and provide regular reports to the senior management team.
- Oversee day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, receivable, and payroll.
- Prepare and present accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations, standards, and internal policies.
- Manage grant budgets and financial reporting requirements.
- Ensure proper allocation of grant funds and compliance with donor restrictions.
- Prepare grant financial reports and assist with audit preparations.
- Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard organizational assets.
- Ensure adherence to financial policies and procedures.
- Conduct periodic internal audits to assess financial practices and compliance.
- Supervise and mentor the finance team, including accountants and financial assistants.
- Provide training and support to ensure the team’s professional development.
- Advise the board and senior management on financial strategies and implications.
- Assist in the development of long-term financial plans and sustainability strategies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; a CPA designation is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, with leadership experience, preferably in a not-for-profit environment.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
- Experience with grant management and compliance.
- Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.
