Manager - Business Development (Professional Services)

Job Description

We’re looking for a Manager, Business Development to join an established industry leader and support a Director, Business Development in the pursuit of new business opportunities, pipeline development, and strategic proposals and presentations. This is a remote position with candidates ideally located in Alberta.

This is a developmental role designed to launch and accelerate a long-term career within the organization. The successful candidate will receive hands-on coaching, learn a proven sales model, and work closely with senior sales leadership. Initially focused on deal support and project management, the role will progressively take ownership of smaller and mid-sized opportunities based on performance and readiness, with a clear path toward future advancement within the organization.

Manager, Business Development responsibilities:

  • Research markets and generate new business opportunities while building and managing a strong sales pipeline.
  • Support the development of proposals, presentations, email campaigns, and other sales tools.
  • Coordinate communication and strategy between clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Build strong client relationships and identify opportunities for long-term account growth.
  • Coordinate internal teams and subject matter experts to ensure proposals meet deadlines and client requirements.
  • Maintain accurate client, contact, and opportunity information within the CRM.
  • Manage multiple priorities and projects while creating a strong sense of urgency and accountability.
  • Gradually take ownership of smaller and mid-sized opportunities while supporting the Director on larger deals.

The successful candidate has:

  • 3–5 years of sales or business development experience with demonstrated success.
  • Strong communication, relationship management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Excellent organization and project management abilities.
  • A growth mindset, strong coachability, and genuine ambition to develop.
  • The ability to learn and adopt an established sales model while bringing their own sales acumen.
  • High personal accountability, integrity, initiative, and attention to detail.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25–30% of the time.

Compensation and benefits:

  • $75,000 base salary with first-year on-target earnings of approximately $110,000–$130,000.
