Job Description

Our client is seeking a Manager of Financial Reporting for a role in the automotive industry.

In this position, the chosen candidate will oversee the organization’s daily financial reporting activities. Responsibilities include preparing and analyzing financial statements, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing strategic insights to support decision-making. A strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and effective team leadership are essential for success in this role.

The Manager of Financial Reporting will play a crucial part in the organization's growth and success by delivering precise and timely financial reports and analyzing financial results. Working closely with the Director of Financial Reporting and the VP of Corporate Finance, the Manager will also offer detailed financial explanations to the Executive team.

Manager, Financial Reporting responsibilities:
  • Analyzing financial results to identify trends and provide valuable insights while ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations and staying current with evolving accounting standards.
  • Preparing and reviewing financial statements in accordance with gaap/ifrs, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, and developing and maintaining robust internal controls. Coordinate the annual audit process with external auditors.
  • Lead, mentor, and support the development of the financial reporting team by assigning tasks, managing performance, and fostering a high-performance environment.
  • Identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance efficiency, leveraging technology to streamline reporting processes, and maintaining comprehensive documentation for processes and controls.
  • Effective communication is key to this role
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, provide clear and concise reporting to senior management, and serve as the primary contact for any financial reporting queries.

Education and Experience:
  • Post-secondary degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • CPA or equivalent designation required.
  • 5-7 years financial reporting experience in public company or accounting firm.
  • Skills in preparing financial statements and working papers, including concise MD&A, KPI, cash flow, and variance analysis.
  • A strong understanding of IFRS.
  • Experience managing teams and leading financial reporting processes.
  • Strong Excel and CaseWare skills.
  • Understanding of controls and procedures in complex organizations.
