The Headhunters is a leading Canadian recruitment firm specializing in professional search and workforce advisory services.

As part of our continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Senior Career Recruitment Consultant to support clients and internal teams with recruitment strategy, workforce planning, career advisory services, and employment-related consulting.

This is a senior hybrid employment advisory and recruitment consulting role requiring expertise on both sides of the market: advising employers and assessing career seekers.

Job Responsibilities:

Client / Employer-facing responsibilities
  • Meet with clients to assess business stage, workforce needs, and long-term hiring goals, and provide guidance on talent acquisition and compensation strategies
  • Advise employers on human resources and employment-related matters, including hiring practices, compensation structures, and compliance with applicable employment legislation and standards
  • Plan, develop, and implement recruitment strategies to support client hiring objectives
  • Conduct ongoing research and labor market analysis to identify compensation benchmarks, vacation practices, and business trends, and provide clients with recommendations to support hiring and workforce planning
  • Deliver client-facing presentations on labor market conditions, recruitment strategies, workforce trends, and talent availability
  • Prepare and deliver presentations at conferences, workshops, job fairs, networking events, and industry forums to promote employment services, support talent acquisition, and expand professional networks
  • Develop relationships with universities, community agencies, and external partners to support talent pipelines, referrals, and market engagement
  • Maintain accurate, objective, and job-related documentation to support recruitment, client service, and employment-related activities
Candidate / Job seeker-facing responsibilities:
  • Assess candidate readiness and identify gaps in skills, experience, or qualifications, and provide guidance on training, certifications, or development needed to improve employment opportunities
  • Interview job seekers and prospective candidates to obtain employment history, educational background, credentials, and long-term career goals
  • Identify barriers to employment and provide guidance to job seekers and prospective candidates, including those not actively seeking new employment, on job readiness, job search strategies, résumé development, interview preparation, and market positioning
  • Collect and analyze labor market information for job seekers, including job opportunities, entry requirements, skill expectations, and other occupational insights
  • Lead recruitment and selection activities, including identifying, recruiting, and engaging prospective candidates through direct outreach, networking, and talent sourcing strategies
  • Recruit, assess, and support the hiring of staff, including evaluating job seekers, leading compensation discussions, negotiating terms of employment, managing offer presentations, and supporting onboarding
  • Provide established employees with guidance and strategies for managing job dissatisfaction, navigating career transitions, and adapting to workplace change
  • Comfortable engaging with senior leadership and executive stakeholders to discuss talent acquisition strategy, compensation structures, labor market conditions, and workforce planning
The successful candidate has:
  • 5+ years’ experience working in an employment agency, recruitment firm, or consulting environment providing employment-related services to both employers and job seekers
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong employer relationships while providing employment-related, recruitment, and workforce advisory services
  • Experience interviewing, assessing, advising, and profiling job seekers and prospective candidates to support suitable employment matches
  • Strong knowledge of labor market conditions, compensation structures, workforce planning, employment practices, and recruitment strategies
  • Experience conducting compensation analysis, job evaluation, and assessing role requirements in relation to labor market conditions
  • Strong advisory and consultative skills in working with both employers and job seekers on employment-related matters
Compensation and benefits:
  • The discussed salary range is $26.44 to $43.59 per hour depending on experience
  • Candidates with additional experience and higher compensation expectations may also be considered
