Intermediate Accountant - 19203
Job Description

The Intermediate Accountant plays a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing full-cycle accounting, and supporting financial reporting and analysis. This position ensures compliance, supports budgeting and forecasting, and contributes to audit preparation and process improvements.
Intermediate Accountant responsibilities:
- Process vendor payments, manage cash applications, and reconcile accounts.
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and financial adjustments.
- Conduct monthly financial analyses and assist with reporting for leadership.
- Support grant reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
- Assist with year-end audit preparation and compliance requirements.
- Oversee accounts payable, receivable, and expense reimbursements.
- Manage credit card reconciliations and ensure proper expense documentation.
- Identify opportunities for efficiency, automation, and financial process improvements.
- Support financial projects and perform additional accounting duties as needed.
- An accounting diploma or degree.
- Minimum of 3+ years of full cycle accounting Canadian experience is a must.
- Experience in a non-for-profit organization with an understanding of restricted and non-restricted funding.
- Experience in a public accounting firm and non for profit are ideal.
- Strong critical thinking skills, able to trouble shoot and experienced with full cycle accounting is a must.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Thrives in a fast-paced environment where a sense of urgency is required.
- Must be able to wear many hats and shift gears quickly as priorities change.
- Strong tech skills, experience with software conversion and QuickBooks is preferred.
- Power User Excel abilities is a must.
- Strong communication skills, a positive attitude and a high attention to detail.
- Able to work in an office in downtown Edmonton.
- The discussed salary range is $75,000 – $85,000 depending on experience.
