Job Description
This role is ideal for an Underwriter with commercial insurance experience, particularly within construction, manufacturing, health care, or retail portfolios. The Executive Underwriter will manage highly complex and unique portfolios, applying technical expertise to solve complex problems while mentoring and training regional underwriting staff.
Executive Underwriter responsibilities:
- Underwrite and service highly complex commercial accounts in accordance with established guidelines
- Apply expertise to solve complex underwriting challenges and identify innovative solutions
- Mentor and train underwriting staff to ensure best practices and guidelines are understood and applied
- Maintain high standards for data quality and service levels
- 10+ years of experience in the property and casualty or commercial insurance industry
- CIP and/or FCIP designation
- Post-secondary education or equivalent on-the-job experience
- Experience in construction, manufacturing, health care, retail, or related commercial sectors
- Working knowledge of underwriting philosophy, policy contracts, rating programs, risk information sources, technical manuals, statutory constraints, and computer workflow procedures
- Ability to work in PC-oriented environments, including Microsoft Office, email, and Internet
- Strong skills in coaching, mentoring, and professional relationship management
