As the Bilingual Communications & Media Relations Officer, you'll be at the center of the organization’s communications strategy crafting compelling stories, managing media relationships, supporting executive communications, and helping guide the organization through both opportunities and challenges.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Be the Voice Behind the Message
  • Develop impactful communications materials, including speeches, briefing notes, executive correspondence, stakeholder communications, media lines, fact sheets, and press releases.
  • Partner with leaders across the organization to translate complex issues into clear, compelling, and audience-focused messaging.
  • Help shape and execute communications strategies that support organizational priorities and industry advocacy efforts.
  • Drive Media and Public Engagement
  • Build and maintain relationships with regional, national, and industry media.
  • Monitor traditional, digital, and social media to identify emerging trends, opportunities, and potential risks.
  • Respond to media inquiries and support proactive media outreach initiatives.
  • Pitch stories and industry insights that elevate the organization's profile and influence.
  • Lead Digital and Corporate Communications
  • Manage website content and communications channels to ensure messaging remains timely, relevant, and engaging.
  • Oversee communication tools, platforms, and content calendars.
  • Create and deliver engaging internal and external newsletters that connect audiences to the organization's work.
  • Lead the development of the annual report in collaboration with internal teams and creative partners.
  • Support Issues and Crisis Communications
  • Contribute to risk, contingency, and crisis communication planning.
  • Help develop communications responses for sensitive or emerging issues.
  • Support organizational resilience through thoughtful issues management and consistent messaging.
  • Create Meaningful Stakeholder Experiences
  • Support conferences, industry events, trade shows, partner activations, and leadership meetings.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Canada to strengthen engagement and advance organizational objectives.
What You Bring
  • 5–7+ years of communications, public affairs, media relations, or corporate communications experience.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling abilities in both English and French.
  • Experience managing media relations and working with journalists.
  • Demonstrated success developing communications strategies and content across multiple channels.
  • Experience supporting issues management, crisis communications, or reputation management initiatives.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • A collaborative, relationship-focused approach and the confidence to advise leaders and stakeholders.
  • Experience with tools such as WordPress, SharePoint, HubSpot, Mailchimp, media monitoring platforms, social media management tools, and website CMS platforms.
  • Familiarity with Canva or other design tools is an asset.
Education
  • Post-secondary education in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Public Affairs, or a related discipline.
