General Manager - Custom Manufacturing
Job Description
The ideal candidate has full operational oversight within custom manufacturing, with a background in wood, millwork, metal, or plastics fabrication, and a proven record of leading teams that cut, form, assemble, and finish high-quality products.
This role requires leadership beyond plant operations, encompassing production, supply chain, finance, and overall business performance.
General Manager Job Responsibilities:
- Oversee manufacturing, scheduling, inventory and installation crews
- Ensure all projects/orders are produced, shipped, and installed on time and within budget
- Standardize processes, capacity planning, and quality controls
- Drive safety, compliance, and service standard
- Support sales with pricing, feasibility, and delivery timelines
- Maintain relationships with municipalities, BIAs, and commercial clients
- Review bids/RFPs and align operations to win and deliver them profitably
- Resolve escalations, warranty/service issues, and client expectations
- With the owner, own and review the P&L targets, forecasting, budgets, and KPI dashboards
- Lead supervisors, installers, production staff, and office support teams
- Build hiring plans, training, workforce planning (seasonal ramp-up, etc.)
- Improve margins via cost control, vendor negotiation, and efficiency
- Experience in the manufacturing or fabrication of physical products (e.g., furniture, millwork, metal, or plastics) is essential
- A background in managing a variety of different projects
- Budgeting, forecasting, cost control, gross margin awareness
- Previous leadership experience in managing multiple business units
- $135,000 to $150,000 based on previous experience
