Freight Operations Coordinator
Job Description
Our client is a growing third-party logistics provider specializing in transportation solutions across North America.
They partner with a broad network of carriers and transportation providers to deliver reliable, responsive freight solutions for customers across multiple industries. This opportunity is ideal for someone who thrives in a high-volume operational environment and enjoys negotiation, urgency, and problem-solving.
This position is heavily focused on sourcing carrier capacity, negotiating rates, managing transportation partners, and supporting smooth freight execution.
Logistics Coordinator responsibilities:
- Source carrier capacity across North America to support daily freight requirements.
- Negotiate competitive transportation rates while maintaining strong service levels.
- Build and maintain relationships with carriers, couriers, and transportation providers.
- Research lanes, market conditions, and carrier availability to support operational decisions.
- Hold carriers accountable to service expectations and operational commitments.
- Collaborate closely with Customer Service and Operations teams to ensure smooth freight execution.
- Support margin protection through effective buy-side sourcing and cost control.
- Ensure accurate and timely communication with internal stakeholders.
- Follow established transportation processes, SOPs, and operational workflows.
- Manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
- Assist with capacity planning and problem resolution during service disruptions.
- Experience in logistics coordination, dispatch, freight brokerage, transportation operations, or carrier sourcing.
- Experience working within 3PL, transportation, manufacturing, or distribution logistics environments.
- Strong understanding of LTL and FTL transportation, freight pricing, carrier negotiations, and transportation market dynamics.
- Strong negotiation skills and confidence making quick operational decisions.
- Ability to hold carriers accountable while maintaining strong working relationships.
- The discussed salary range is $75 000 – $90 000pa depending on experience
