Job Description

We’re looking for a full-time Civil Estimator to join a growing civil construction team.

Our client is a well-established civil contractor with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality infrastructure and site development projects across Alberta.
The Civil Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, developing competitive tenders, and supporting successful project execution by working closely with operations, project management, subcontractors, and clients.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and competitive tender submissions for civil construction projects, including underground utilities, earthworks, road construction, and site development.
  • Review and interpret civil drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, and contract documents to determine project scope and pricing requirements.
  • Develop complete tender packages, construction methodologies, and preliminary project schedules.
  • Solicit, evaluate, and analyze quotations from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure competitive and accurate pricing.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Operations teams to develop estimating strategies and ensure smooth project handovers following contract award.
  • Prepare and manage bid revisions, pricing updates, value engineering opportunities, and change order estimates.
  • Maintain accurate estimating documentation and support continuous improvement of estimating processes and historical cost databases.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers throughout the bidding process.
  • Participate in post-bid reviews and provide estimating support during project start-up as required.
  • Ensure all estimates are prepared in accordance with company standards, client requirements, and project deadlines.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of estimating experience within the civil construction industry.
  • Experience estimating projects involving underground utilities, earthworks, road construction, municipal infrastructure, or site servicing.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret civil engineering drawings, specifications, and contract documentation.
  • Working knowledge of common construction contract types.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with B2W Estimate or similar estimating software is considered an asset.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple project stakeholders.
  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Safety certifications such as CSTS, Ground Disturbance, or equivalent are considered an asset.
