Civil Engineer / Project Manager

Our client is a reputable Estevan-based contractor recognized for delivering high-quality infrastructure, excavation, deep utility, and concrete solutions across large-scale civil projects. The Civil Engineer / Project Manager will be responsible for leading projects from planning through execution, ensuring work is delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to high-quality standards. This role combines project leadership, estimating, surveying, and operational oversight in a practical, field-driven environment.
Civil Engineer / Project Manager Responsibilities
- Lead and manage heavy civil construction projects from planning through execution
- Collaborate closely with operations, superintendents, estimators, and senior leadership
- Prepare and support project estimates, cost tracking, and budget control
- Conduct surveying, site assessments, and land evaluation using Topcon equipment, including topographic surveys for cut/fill quantities, grade/alignment staking, and translating survey data into AutoCAD for grade design
- Oversee work related to deep utilities, excavation, concrete works, concrete plants, pacewalks, and infrastructure development
- Coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, schedules, and resources across multiple operations
- Contribute to decisions related to construction methodology, sequencing, and execution strategy
- Identify project risks, site challenges, and operational constraints, and implement effective solutions
- Maintain clear communication with internal teams, consultants, and external stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
- Support consistent project execution and operational best practices
- Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
- Proven experience managing heavy civil, excavation, or infrastructure projects
- Strong technical background in deep utilities, concrete construction, and earthworks
- Hands-on surveying experience with Topcon equipment is highly important
- Experience with topographic surveys, grade/alignment staking, cut/fill calculations, and translating survey data into AutoCAD for grade design
- Experience with estimating, site/land evaluation, and project cost tracking
- Ability to manage multiple projects and operational priorities simultaneously
- Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Ability to read and interpret civil drawings, specifications, and contract documents
- Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality, safety, and cost control
- Excellent communication and team-collaboration skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Experience with construction management software is an asset
- P.Eng designation is considered an asset but not mandatory
- Willingness and flexibility to work overtime hours as required
- Hourly rate: $40–$45 CAD, depending on experience
- Total annual compensation including overtime and potential performance bonus: approximately $90,000–$120,000 CAD/year
- Relocation package available for qualified candidates
