We’re looking for an Electrical Engineer to join the Power System Studies (PSS) team at Prime, a full-service electrical design, supply, and service firm, specializing in equipment design and commissioning.

They manufacture and supply unit substations, electrical switchgear, and control panels by integrating only the highest quality and industry-proven equipment and manufacturers into their designs.   • Power System Studies: Load Flow, Coordination, Short Circuit, Arc Flash, motor starting and Ground Grid

Electrical Engineer responsibilities:

Prime’s PSS team is looking for an Electrical Engineer, who understands project management, is energized through solving challenging problems, values strong and lasting relationships with clients and co-workers, and wants to foster their career in a dynamic and growing industry.  Some of your responsibilities would include:
  • Power system studies including but not limited to: Load flow, Short Circuit, coordination, Arc Flash, harmonics, ground grid and motor starting analyses
  • Review and create power system simulations, reports, and studies
  • Assist in the preparation of project labour budgets
  • Assist in the development of engineering policies, standards, and procedures
  • Project management
  • Liaise with customers and contractors
  • Provide technical support, evaluations, and recommendations to engineers and clients
  • Prepare electrical drawings
The successful candidate has: 
  • Electrical Engineering Degree - PEng
  • 5+ years of relevant experience directly related to electrical engineering
  • 3+ years of relevant experience directly related to power system studies in the area of coordination, short circuit, arc flash
  • Previous experience with industrial equipment manufacturing an asset
  • Knowledge of power distribution, switchgear, generation, and substations is considered an asset.
