Job Description

The Director of Information Technology and Security is responsible for the planning, cyber security, administration, and management of activities and operations related to the Information Technology and Security Department.

Role Overview: The onsite Director of Information Technology and Security role ensures the effective and efficient implementation, maintenance, and support of cross-organization technology systems and projects, including optimizing the technical infrastructure. They will coordinate information activities with other departments and directly advise the senior leadership team on the implications of proposed actions and decisions taken by the IT and Security Departments.

Key Responsibilities:
Team Management:
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop a team of 9 direct reports.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and create development plans.
  • Facilitate team meetings and encourage a collaborative working environment.
  • Ensure compliance with HR, governance, financial, and administrative policies.
  • Participate in recruitment, interviews, and selection of staff.
IT Infrastructure Management:
  • Oversee the installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware, software, and network systems.
  • Ensure the security, availability, and reliability of IT infrastructure.
Project Management:
  • Lead IT projects from conception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and meet business requirements.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders and external vendors to deliver IT solutions that support business operations.
Support and Maintenance:
  • Provide high-level support and troubleshooting for IT issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business activities.
  • Implement and oversee helpdesk operations to ensure prompt and effective resolution of IT problems.
Strategic Planning:
  • Develop and implement IT strategies that align with business objectives in the agriculture and construction sectors.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies to improve operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Participate in the formulation and implementation of long-term strategic development plans.
  • Provide "early warnings" to senior management as appropriate.
  • Make complex, sensitive decisions and sustain strong internal and external pressure under tight time frames.
Compliance and Security:
  • Ensure IT policies and procedures comply with industry standards and regulations.
  • Implement robust cybersecurity measures to protect company data and infrastructure.
Budget Management:
  • Prepare and manage the IT budget, ensuring cost-effective solutions and services.
  • Monitor expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Vendor Management:
  • Establish and maintain relationships with IT vendors and service providers.
  • Negotiate contracts and manage vendor performance.
Policy Development:
  • Write, implement, and keep IT and Systems-related policies up to date.
  • Ensure staff understand and adhere to IT policies.
Information Technology:
  • Manage and support a large fleet of end-user technology components.
  • Provide information systems support for network computer systems, servers, IP telephone systems, and other technologies.
  • Manage technology partners to secure confidential data and manage cyber risks.
  • Identify and recommend new technologies and services to improve efficiency.
  • Plan and coordinate system upgrades, assessing costs and benefits.
  • Oversee development and maintenance of user applications.
  • Maintain and enhance network connectivity between offices.
  • Keep website and mobile app updated and current.
  • Plan and implement procedures for remote work.
Financial:
  • Develop the department's annual budget.
  • Administer the annual budget.
  • Monitor revenues and expenditures, providing explanations for variances.
  • Prepare revisions to the budget for approval.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in information science, computer science, or related field (Master's preferred).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite, including SharePoint and Teams.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud architecture and security.
  • Minimum five years' experience in information technology.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience in staff management.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Strategic thinker with strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Project management experience.
