A very rare opportunity to join a fast growing publicly trading Canadian company expanding globally in the clean technology space. This newly created "Virtual Corporate Controller" position will report to the CFO and lead small finance team through an exciting period of high growth. There is planned succession plan into a more senior role as the buildout and financial structure is fully developed.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Financial reporting for publicly traded company including consolidation of Canadian & Europe entities.
  • Overseeing the day to day accounting functions and leading very small hands-on finance team.
  • Review and improve accounting processes and internal controls as required for a publicly traded company.
  • Coordination of the annual financial audit.
  • Automate finance functions and processes.
  • Work closely with CFO on M&A work including private placements, funding alternatives, making presentations and various growth initiatives.
  • Working with CFO and executive on planned listing on U.S. stock exchange.
  • Develop a dashboard and improve the speed and quality of financial information.
  • Ongoing special projects and growth initiatives.
The successful candidate will have:
  • A CPA designation and financial reporting experience for a company listed on both the Canadian and U.S. stock exchanges.
  • Ability to roll-up sleeves and work in fast paced, high growth environment.
  • Previous experience in start-up environment with desire to build something special.
  • SOX/ internal controls experience and strong knowledge of public financial reporting requirements.
  • Proven ability to automate financial functions and improve business processes.
  • Excellent communications skills and the comfort in dealing with various external stakeholders and making financial presentations.
  • Strong leadership ability and desire/capability/passion to move into executive role as the company builds out internationally.
  • Comfort in getting into the weeds and seeing the big picture and building the framework to manage the growth.
  • Enjoyment in leading and coaching a small finance team.
  • Comfort and success in working virtually in senior finance capacity.
  • High level technical skills in complex financial analysis, budgeting and cash flow planning.
