Job Description
Controller responsibilities:
- Take part in the company's strategic planning process for short- and long-term growth targets.
- Manage monthly and quarterly reporting cycles/close process.
- Management and compliance of tax related matters
- Develop and manage an effective costing system.
- Conduct financial review of all contractual obligations.
- Implement and maintain compliance with appropriate accounting and internal controls in compliance with Sarbanes Oxley legislation.
- Analyze data and prepare executive summary for operational, financial and strategic decision making.
- Adherence and validation of financial statements for local and international issues (i.e., including financial statement preparation under IFRS/ASPE).
- Timely consolidation and reporting of financial results
- Conduct in-depth research on highly technical accounting issues and offer pertinent advice and insight.
- Lead and facilitate cross functional business initiatives.
- Prepare analysis and presentation of Internal Financial Reports to the Executive and members of Management monthly.
- Preparation of financial statements, forecasts, and analysis of the outcomes.
- Oversee daily operations of the finance and accounting department.
- Suggest benchmarks for measuring financial and operating performance.
- Prepare financial analysis for investment decisions and contract negotiations.
- Oversee the preparation of all supporting information for the annual audit and internal SOX compliance.
- Create financial models analyzing strategic business decisions.
- Perform analytical review of Balance Sheet and P&L accounts to assist with variance analysis.
The successful candidate has:
- University bachelor’s degree in business/accounting
- CPA designation (Canada and/or USA)
- Minimum 7-10+ years post-qualification management experience
- Experience working in Manufacturing environment
- Strong technical knowledge of ERP and Consolidation/Financial Reporting systems
- Strong comprehension of IFRS / US GAAP
- Working knowledge of CA / US tax is an asset.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Self-Driven, results oriented leader with experience building and mentoring teams.
- Analytical thinker with a detail-oriented mindset

Outside of work, she keeps active with her teenager, balancing school, sports and outdoor activities.
