Job Description

Our client, a leading logistics company operating in Northern regions, is in search of an experienced Controller to join their team. In this role, you'll serve as the backbone of both operational and technical support, overseeing the finance unit and acting as the organization's financial ambassador. Reporting directly to the President, you'll play a pivotal part in driving continued growth by providing exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders. Your strategic insight will be instrumental in budget management, conducting cost-benefit analyses, forecasting needs, and identifying new business opportunities. Be a part of supporting indigenous communities and contributing to the success of a diverse range of operations, from diamond and gold mines to fuel services and airport operations.
This role will be based in Edmonton with travel to their location in Yellowknife.

Responsibilities:
  • Partner with senior management to develop and implement long-term financial strategies.
  • Oversee all aspects of the accounting function, including budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and internal controls.
  • Manage and mentor the finance team, ensuring their professional development and growth.
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to support informed decision-making.
  • Manage risk and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee external audits and ensure smooth communication with auditors.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including banks and investors.
The successful candidate will have:
  • 5+ years of experience in a similar role, preferably within the logistics industry.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field (CPA designation a plus).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in financial modeling and accounting software.
  • A commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
