General / Senior Superintendent (Civil Construction)
Job Description
Our client, a well-established civil construction contractor operating across Western Canada, is seeking a General / Senior Superintendent to lead complex civil construction projects in Calgary.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing multiple site superintendents and ensuring successful delivery of full-scale civil construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee multiple site superintendents across one or more civil construction projects
- Provide overall field leadership for project execution, sequencing, and productivity
- Manage and coordinate all on-site construction activities across large-scale civil projects
- Ensure alignment between project schedules, budgets, and field operations
- Support and enforce strict adherence to safety standards and regulatory compliance
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and senior leadership to resolve complex site issues
- Monitor progress across multiple sites and implement corrective actions where required
- Drive efficiency, quality control, and continuous improvement across field operations
- Review construction plans, drawings, and schedules to ensure proper execution strategy
- 10+ years of progressive experience in civil construction, including senior superintendent or lead superintendent roles
- Strong background working with large general contracting companies (highly preferred)
- Proven experience managing multiple superintendents or large, complex projects simultaneously
- Strong knowledge of heavy civil construction methods, sequencing, and site logistics
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and construction schedules at a high level
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Strong understanding of construction safety standards and regulatory requirements in Alberta
- Salary: $130,000 – $150,000 CAD, depending on experience
