Job Description

The Capacity & Projects Engineer will combine their manufacturing industry and engineering experiences to support our organization with recommending, developing and implementing new processes, manufacturing methods, and capital equipment acquisitions.   Reporting directly to the Director of Facilities and Engineering, you will provide project team leadership and oversight to implement the identified initiatives.  This position is located at our manufacturing facility in Steinbach, Manitoba.
What you will do:
  • Define resource requirements and identify problems, obstacles and needs.
  • Recommend and support the development and implementation of new processes. manufacturing methods, and capital equipment with a clear focus on capacity improvements and increasing efficiency.
  • Create optimization and strategic plans to improve performance and service.
  • Optimize plant layout and, material flow.
  • Monitor performance and investigate problems, creating remediation plans.
  • Design and maintain all performance capacity reports and statistics for management.
  • Create capacity plans which meet business targets and optimize manufacturing efficiency and costs.
  • Build forecast models and create specifications for planned growth.
What you will bring to this role:
Experience
  • Diploma or Degree in Manufacturing Engineering / Technology or similar
  • Minimum 5 years previous experience in a similar role in a production / manufacturing setting
  • Well-versed in capacity planning, automation, and process improvement
  • Proven ability to lead and work effectively with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication skills - verbal and written
  • Proficient using AutoCAD and MS Office
  • Strong understanding of 5S, process flows, continuous improvement, quality and safety
  • Revenue and profitability driven and execution-focused

  • Good project management skills, including strong decision-making, problem-solving and strategic planning abilities
  • Effective leadership in managing projects and project teams
  • Exceptional time management and organization skills
  • Knowledge of industry best practices to ensure high product quality
