Business Development Manager - Builder Specification

Job Description

We’re looking for a Business Development Manager – Builder Specification (East Coast), based in Charlotte, North Carolina, covering the Eastern seaboard with a core focus on Georgia, the Carolinas, and the Mid Atlantic region, with up to 50 percent travel.

Our client designs and manufactures premium outdoor architectural products specified into luxury and high end residential builds and outdoor living environments. This is a senior individual contributor role for a true business developer who thrives on building relationships that do not yet exist, influencing specification early, and developing a territory from the ground up.

Business Development Manager – Builder Specification responsibilities:

  • Build and grow a multi state, specification led residential builder territory
  • Develop direct relationships with Tier 1 and Tier 2 premium and luxury home builders
  • Drive early stage design and specification inclusion with builders, architects, and designers
  • Develop and manage the supporting channel, including construction wholesalers, electrical and plumbing distributors, specialty dealers, and national accounts
  • Spend the majority of time directly with builders, with remaining time focused on channel development and enablement
  • Generate pipeline through a mix of marketing generated leads and self sourced business development
  • Manage long cycle residential projects from early engagement through close
  • Execute all activities through the Bromic CRM system (HubSpot)

The successful candidate has:

  • Experience selling construction related or architectural building products
  • Exposure to residential builder or specification driven sales environments
  • A proven hunter mindset with the ability to build a territory from scratch
  • Strong ability to prioritise, plan, and execute across a large geographic region
  • Confidence engaging builders, wholesalers, and dealers and identifying decision makers early
  • Comfort working independently with high accountability
  • Strong alignment with a values driven, entrepreneurial culture
  • FMCG or account management only backgrounds are not a fit

Compensation and benefits:

  • Base salary range of $110,000 – $130,000
  • Commission, measured against growth
  • Full benefits package
  • All business travel expenses covered
