Business Development Executive - Commercial Insurance

Job Description
This Edmonton-based role carries full responsibility for hunting and closing new commercial insurance business across the local market. It is built for an experienced commercial insurance sales professional who understands coverage, underwriting appetite, and how to drive a deal from first conversation to bound policy. The focus is on someone who has personally generated and closed commercial insurance business and wants full ownership of building a profitable book.
Success is measured by new business pipeline, revenue, and closed deals. This role is not designed for training, personal lines transitions, or account management.
What You Will Do
- Hunt relentlessly for new commercial insurance business through active prospecting and market presence
- Target the right industries and decision-makers and pursue them with urgency
- Build, control, and drive a strong new business pipeline
- Own the sale from first call through to close
- Lead confident risk conversations and position competitive insurance solutions
- Present, negotiate, and close new commercial business
- Consistently hit new business revenue targets with a healthy, active pipeline
- Build a profitable, sustainable commercial book with strong market presence and referral flow
- Valid Alberta General Insurance License, Level 2
- Proven experience selling mid-market commercial insurance
- Demonstrated ability to prospect, influence, and close
- Strong communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills
- Professional designations such as CAIB, CIP, or CRM are a definite advantage
- Existing business network within Alberta is an asset
