            <description><![CDATA[Weâre looking for a <strong>Senior Accountant</strong> in the construction industry!<br />

This is a fantastic opportunity to support the Controller with full-cycle and financial reporting across multiple operating companies. This "new created position" is suited for an experienced accounting professional who can work independently, review complex transactions, support financial reporting and help maintain strong internal controls in a fast growing multi-company construction environment. The successful candidate will be involved in month-end close, inter-company accounting, financial reporting, audit support and process improvements.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
<strong>Senior Accountant responsibilities:</strong>
<ul>
&#9;<li>Support the Corporate Controller with month-end and year-end close and assist in managing the full-cycle&nbsp;accounting process for multiple entities.</li>
&#9;<li>Perform account reconciliations and prepare journal entries and adjustments.</li>
&#9;<li>Support the inter-company reconciliations and drive issues to closure for loans, cross-charges and inter-company invoicing.</li>
&#9;<li>Support year-end review/audit requirements.</li>
&#9;<li>Work on inventory accounting and assist with inventory adjustments and physical counts.</li>
&#9;<li>Maintain CAPEX and OPEX records including&nbsp;fixed assets, capital leases, operating leases and equipment costs.</li>
&#9;<li>Monitor project accounting including budget vs actual and investigating variances.</li>
&#9;<li>Review project labor, expenses&nbsp;and subcontractor costs to ensure accuracy and proper coding.</li>
&#9;<li>Responsible for HST filings, related account reconciliations and other regulatory filings as required.</li>
&#9;<li>Support process improvements and help maintain strong internal controls and accounting&nbsp;procedures.</li>
</ul>
<strong>The successful candidate has:</strong>

<ul>
&#9;<li>Degree in finance, CPA designation or working towards completion.</li>
&#9;<li>5-8 years of accounting experience.</li>
&#9;<li>Construction, Contracting or&nbsp;Manufacturing experience required..</li>
&#9;<li>Strong experience with month-end close and financial reporting.</li>
&#9;<li>Working experience in project accounting/cost accounting.</li>
&#9;<li>Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas).</li>
&#9;<li>Strong communication skills for interacting with project managers and various stakeholders.</li>
&#9;<li>Self-directed with high attention to detail and&nbsp;proven time management skills.</li>
